Complete the vocabulary challenge for the highest level you can reach. Cum laude and Magna cum laude must be certified in a supervised Formative assessment. You earn the total bonus for your highest completed level: 3, 5, or 7 points—not the three bonuses added together.
Every award winner earns a guaranteed extra recommendation letter from Mr. Soltysik. Higher awards earn stronger letters.
Three levels of distinction
Each higher level includes every requirement from the levels below it.
After completing the four Blookets, answer the same questions in Formative using LockDown Browser during office hours. Earn at least 90% to certify Cum laude status.
Recommendation letter
You earn a guaranteed extra college recommendation letter from Mr. Soltysik. The letter will document the serious vocabulary work you completed and the persistence required to reach perfect scores.
With high honors
+5points added to your final grade
Magna cum laude
A B can become an A−.

You earn a stronger guaranteed extra college recommendation letter. It will emphasize that you mastered both foundational word parts and advanced academic vocabulary beyond the Cum laude standard.

Recommendation letter

How the Membean mastery quiz works
The quiz has exactly 100 questions, and every question is select-all-that-apply. Take it during office hours with Mr. Soltysik. You may retake it as many times as necessary to earn at least 90%.

What your extra recommendation letter means
Every Cum laude, Magna cum laude, and Summa cum laude winner is guaranteed an extra college recommendation letter from Mr. Soltysik. The letter will name the award, explain its requirements, and describe the persistence and vocabulary mastery you demonstrated.
The higher the award, the stronger the letter. Summa cum laude recipients earn Mr. Soltysik’s strongest enthusiastic, honest endorsement because they completed the most demanding standard.
